    The Pruitt-Gaines family would be considered unlikely (and financially minor) collectors by art industry standards.

    But their love of and commitment to art is major.

    They now use The Nia Collection for community-building and advocacy purposes.

    Stephanie Pruitt Gaines here! I started collecting art while pregnant with my daughter, Nia, a couple of decades ago. I was about to be a single mother and didn't have much, but was determined to shape our home and what she would see and feel around her every day.

     

    Hundreds of art buying adventures later (also managed a gallery, married an amazing fella, had a career in the arts, etc.) I am convinced that owning cultural finery doesn't have to be an out of reach aspiration.

     

    In addition to growing and caring for the 150+ works in our family collection, I help people build their own collections on any budget.
